One of our members, (and, a Patrick O'Quin descendant) Melissa Powers Murphy sent me a private message earlier today, to let me know about an interesting project that's underway - the O'Quin DNA project.
Essentially, it's a means for us to find out more just WHERE we fit into the O'Quin family tree. Apparently, there are some 15 Quin/O'Quin/Cuinn septs in Ireland, and if we know to which sept that our ancestor Patrick belonged, we would have a better idea as to which part of Ireland that Patrick might have been born.
In addition, if there are persons who believe they may be related to our O'Quin branch, after one of Patrick's known descendants has the DNA test made, it can be determined if their DNA was recently 'split' from ours.
Here's the link to the project: The O'Quin DNA Project _________________ "Lisa, in this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics!" - Homer Simpson, to daughter Lisa, on discovering that she has built a perpetual motion device. |
